"Drug testing with the INTERCEPT® system is very efficient. It not only
saves our company
valuable hiring time, but it also translates into cost savings that positively
impact my bottom-line."
Less Embarrassing
"Asking an employee or
potential hire to put a swabbetween his cheek and gum
is much easier and far less
embarrassing than asking
...for a urine sample."
Control the Process
"I am no longer waiting
2 to 3 days for drug test
scheduling and lab reports.
I find the perfect candidate
within 24 hours. ...I like that
kind of control."
Adulteration
"The problem with urine
testing is that the person
being tested has to be
hidden away in a secure
restroom. Now I'm able to
observe the collection
process first-hand."

Laboratory-based
Service for Oral Fluid Drug Testing
Discover the oral
fluid solution to modern drug testing. The Intercept® oral fluid
drug testing system provides a smart alternative to costly, inconveninet,
and often embarassing drug testing.
Intercept® oral fluid testing system can detect NIDA-5 drug panel including
marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines, and PCP- without the need to collect
urine. Additional drug tests may be added to serve criminal justice and drug
rehabilitation needs.
Use the donor-friendly collection pad to collect the oral fluid sample and
send it to the laboratory for "next-day" reporting on negative results
and a 48- to 72-hour turnaround for confirmed positives. |
INTERCEPT®:
Laboratory Confidence - Oral Fluid ConvenienceSM
Cost Efficiency
With urine-based testing, you are paying not only for test results, but also
often for collection, scheduling, supervision, and training. And, what about
the downtime while your candidate or employee visits an off-site collection facility?
Multiply your costs and hours by the number of individuals you test and it adds
up quickly. With Intercept testing, you reduce or eliminate collection
fees, minimize scheduling issues, and greatly reduce lost work time. The improvements
to your bottom-line will be noticeable.
Control the Process
Unlike urine samples, oral fluid samples can be collected anywhere, anytime.
No special facilities are needed. With the Intercept® system you have the
option of collecting samples in-house - which means no scheduling hassles or
collection fees. The collection process can take place in a small conference
room or in an office rather than in a rest room. The Intercept® system makes
it easier for you to test candidates or employees at multiple locations. A training
procedure is available for all staff involved in the collection process.
With the Intercept® collection pad, the donor can easily provide a sample
and seal it in the special shipping vial in about 3 minutes. Just place the specicum
vial and chain-of -custody form into a convenient shipper for overnight delivery
to the central lab. The laboratory uses proven immunoassay processes and reports
negative results the same day the sample(s) are tested. Positive results are
confirmed using GC / MS / MS, the "Gold Standard," and are reported
within 48 to 72 hours.
Less Embarrassing
The act of urinating in a cup is at best demeaning and can be awkward for both
the person being tested and the collector. The Intercept® system delivers
a safer, more dignified and observable collection method. The dignity of the
collection method is a real benefit.
Nearly Eliminate Risk of Adulteration
Drug users have many options to try beating a urine test. Intercept® oral
fluid drug testing nearly eliminates the risk of adulteration. It is virtually
impossible for donors providing oral fluid samples to mask drugs in their system.
Intercept® collections can always be directly observed. "Beating the
system" just became more difficult.
The Next Generation of Drug Testing
Drug use and abuse in the workplace is a serious threat to all businesses regardless
of size.
BENEFITS:
Cost
Oral fluid can be significantly less than traditional urine testing. The economic
advantage of the Intercept® oral fluid testing is that it can reduce the
cost of collections, scheduling fees, and the time lost for employees and/or
candidates to travel to collection sites to provide their urine samples. Traditional
urine test collection alone can cost $15.00 to $45+ depending on location.
Detection Window
Just like traditional urine testing, the window in oral fluid testing is different
for each drug. Oral fluid testing identifies recent usage - during the first
24 hours after drug use - that can be missed with urine testing. For most drugs,
the window of detection on oral fluid is about 1 to 3 days. A peer-reviewed study
of more than 70,000 tests showed Intercept® oral fluid testing detected workplace
drug use just as reliably as workplace urine testing.
Turnaround Time
The Lab receives the samples via overnight courier, tests them the day they arrive
and reports negative results that same day. Positive results are confirmed, reviewed,
and reported within 72 hours of receipt.
ORAL FLUID TESTING:
Simple collection process
Difficult to adulterate
Collectors are not exposed to potentially infectious urine samples
Collection is done outside of medical environment
Oral Fluid Drug Testing
INTERCEPT® - The Oral Fluid Drug Test
The Pad
The pad is treated with a salt solution to enhance collection. This solution
is non-toxic and non-harmful. All ingredients on the pad are on the FDA Generally
Recognized As Safe (GRAS) list.
Sample Preservation
The vial contains a blue, non-toxic preservative that keeps the oral fluid sample
from deteriorating during the overnight shipment to the lab.
Donor Preparation and Concerns
Donor should not have anything in his/her mouth within 10 minutes of providing
a sample. Recent oral surgery (i.e., extractions, root canal, etc.) or sutures
will not affect the collection. Keeping the collection pad in the donor's mouth
for at least 2 minutes is ample to collect enough oral fluid sample to complete
the test - even for very dry mouths.
Adulteration Issues
Can the oral fluid test be adulterated? A wide range of adulterants have been
studied and nothing has been found that can adulterate this oral fluid test.
Some donors may attempt to introduce something into the collection pad or specimen
vial.
This risk is highly unlikely since every collection is directly and easily observable.
